Game 2 Final: William & Mary 58 - Georgia State 57
> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament
Again I apologize for the delay in a final wrap up, but the post game press conference took a little while, and then dinner was served. For those of you that don’t know me, I have a hard time walking away from food, but with that said, here is a look at game two.
This is what college basketball in March is supposed to be like. Down two with 7.1 seconds remaining, William & Mary went the length of the court and put the ball in the hands their leading scorer David Schneider who calmly hit a contested three-pointer from the top of the key with 1.7 seconds let on the clock. The mostly pro-Tribe crowd erupted and the team stormed the floor shortly after Georgia State’s full court prayer fell short.
Along with the never-say-die attitude of W&M, by far the most telling statistic in this game was 29-9 free throws attempted advantage for the Tribe. Despite the back and forth of the game though, it was all decided by a tremendous shot from Schneider who refused to let his team lose, scoring a game high 20 points. As devastated GSU head coach Rod Barnes put it bluntly in his post-game press conference, “the kid hit a great shot.”
This win for W&M comes just one year after they were defeated by Georgia State in the first round of the CAA Tournament on a similar buzzer beating three-pointer. So while it looks like a new conference rivalry could be brewing here in Richmond, another pair of rivals are getting set for game three when Delaware and Drexel take the court!
