Game 3: Delaware vs. Drexel - Second Half Update

> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament

I have to say I’m enjoying the crowd of Delaware fans sitting behind me. They are loud, they are enthusiastic, and at no point to they let up on the referees (who are doing a very good job by the way). The Drexel student section is continuing to step up their game as well. The small mass of yellow and blue troll doll wigs is constantly in motion as the fans bob and react to each and every play. One student in particular has been amusing me since the opening tip, ripping off his blue wig and waving it menacingly at every call that goes against the Dragons.

Also a few writers in front me moments ago had a near death experience at Drexel’s 6’9” 230 pound Jim Ledsome nearly plowed through them on his way towards chasing down a loose ball. Shortly there after, another loose ball came flying towards us and one rather sure handed journalist made the grab without a moment’s hesitation. Ah the dangers of press row

As for the game it continues to be equally as exciting as any of the non-basketball related events I have been describing. At the 7:30 mark Delaware is ahead 47-38, but the game feels much closer than that. I give credit to not only the players for that, but the fans as well, who seem to be living and dying with each and every basket. At this time of year though and in this particular conference I’d expect nothing less. Each of these teams is playing for just one more day, you lose and there is no at-large bid waiting for you. The result is some outstanding competition.

Both teams continue to be aggressive, with Drexel keeping themselves in it thanks to a few steals that turned into fast break points the other way. Delaware has been methodical in breaking down the Dragon defense to continue scoring points. We’re in the home stretch with this one and Drexel is at the free throw line coming out of this break, lets make it a good one fellas!
