Game 5: VCU vs. Towson - First Half Update

> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament

Wow, what a fantastic first 13 minutes of play. Towson must have forgotten that they were the underdogs in this one because they started the game on an 8-0 run despite the overwhelming support for VCU. I’d roughly estimate that there about 10,000 fans here today and the vast majority of them are here for the Rams.

Josh Thornton has continued his strong play for the Tigers, already with 10 points in the books, including a nice pull up three-pointer early on. Eric Maynor has made some nice plays as well, hitting a couple of gorgeous runners in the lane.

It’s amazing how much of an impact Larry Sanders has just be stepping on the floor. He doesn’t start, but entered the game about 5 minutes into the half, and Towson immediately had to stop entering the ball inside after Sanders pinned a shot attempt off the backboard.

As we stand though it’s been just over 4 minutes since either team has scored and at the 7:12 mark Towson is leading 17-14, but looks like they could crack at any point. Sanders just came back on the floor so we’ll see if Towson is forced to continue shooting from the outside, I’ll be back at the half!
