Game 6: Old Dominion vs. William & Mary - Halftime Update

> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament

The scoring picked up a little bit and after a back and forth frantic finish, William & Mary is on top 24-23 at the half. Laimis Kisielius has done some nice work for the Tribe, hitting the glass and chipping in eight points to lead his team thus far.

There is no doubt that the player of the game so far has been ODU’s talented sophomore Gerald Lee. The 6’10” forward has 14 points on 5-7 shooting but has been somewhat soft inside, grabbing just one first half rebound. I have to say though, I am a fan of the big man’s ability to face up and shoot from the mid-range part of the court. He should be a fun player to watch develop over the next couple of seasons in the CAA.

David Schneider, yesterday’s hero, has struggled so far with just 6 points on 2-8 shooting. Keep in mind though, Schneider got off to a slow start yesterday too before having a big second half.

My location on press row has me smack dab in the middle of Tribe country and the W&M fans have been relentless. Not only are the well read on the game (a rather nice woman just asked me for my copy of today’s Richmond Times-Dispatch which I happily handed her), but they are ruthless. Several times during the half when calls went against the Tribe there were phrases shouted that I will not repeat, but you get the idea. The Monarch faithful have been boisterous as well, and are taking up the opposite right corner of the arena from where I am sitting, right over the media entranceway.

On another note, VCU’s Anthony Grant is still in the building. He spent the first half scouting this game since the Rams get the winner tomorrow, and he just finished an appearance on CN8’s halftime show of this broadcast. Along with Grant, there are still plenty of yellow shirts and horns in the arena, which tells you that VCU fans simply just love their basketball.

Both teams are back out on the floor warming up, it looks like William & Mary is going to be in another close one down the stretch!
