Recap of today and a look ahead

> Live on-location in St. Louis, Missouri at the MVC Tournament

Unfortunately, due to some technical difficulties with my laptop, I was unable to blog during the Northern Iowa/Southern Illinois game.

With both team's methodical styles of offense and intense defensive pressure, I knew coming in the game would be a low-scoring, defensive affair. The game played out as expected, and after a rough first half, UNI's star big man Eric Coleman took the game over for the Panthers. Coleman went to the free throw line 15 times in the 2nd half alone, and made 14-19 overall. Adam Viet was on fire from three-point land, and all of his six field goals were threes.

It was a typical slug-it-out defensive battle. Southern Illinois looked to be pulling away, leading 46-41, before the Salukis collapsed and allowed Coleman and Viet to go to work.

Overall, the Northern Iowa victory was the surprise of the day. Drake easily dispatched of Indiana State, and Creighton narrowly defeated Bradley in the 4/5 match-up. Now, Drake will face Creighton in tomorrow's semi-final match-up, and the Bulldogs swept the Bluejays this year. In tomorrow's Illinois State/UNI semi-final game, the Redbirds can solidify their status as an NCAA tournament at-large. With a win tomorrow, it'd be hard for Illinois State to be left out, and I'm not so sure they aren't in the field as of today.

Since my laptop has gone haywire, I don't forsee myself being able to blog tomorrow. I'll still be at both semi-final games though and will make sure to check in once I get home, where my computer actually does work.
