Game 7: UNC-Wilmington vs. Delaware - Second Half Update
> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament
UNC-Wilmington started the second half exactly how they wanted to, scoring the first seven points to inflate their lead to 19. Since that point the Seahawks lead has see-sawed back and forth, but never falling below 12 points.
It’s funny how this half has worked, its almost as if someone upstairs wants it to stay as a reasonable score, but not get too close. Every time Delaware looks like they are going to make a run, they some how manage to lose momentum with either a turnover or offensive foul. Yet at the same time, whenever it looks like UNCW is ready to blow this one wide open, the refs make a call to quell the run.
Of particular enjoyment this half has been one member of the Seahawk’s student section who has been on the refs like you wouldn’t believe. He is wearing sunglasses and a yellow hard hat to go along with a wig and teal t-shirt. Every time a call goes against Wilmington he points his finger at the guilty ref and shouts, “Sir, you are blowing the game sir!” I’m easily amused I guess.
Unless Delaware’s defense can tighten up in the games final minutes they are going to be going home. At the 7:12 mark we stand at 64-48 with UNCW in command of this one, and look every bit like the #2 seed they earned in the regular season.
