Georgia State vs. William & Mary: First Half Update
> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament
I’m actually starting to feel like I’m at a conference tournament now. Not only has the crowd grown much bigger and gotten much louder, but these two teams are bigger and more athletic than we saw in game 1. Deven Dickerson for the Panthers in particular is a big boy at 6’9” 260, he just looks like a Division 1 center.
Thus far though the story has to be Georgia State sharp shooter Leonard Mendez who has 11 points already at the 7:22 mark (GSU leads it 23-16). The junior has knocked down three long shots from beyond the arc, showing why he is hitting at a 40% clip from that range on the season. William & Mary has seemed to really zone in on this guy yet.
The Tribe has been working the ball on the offensive end as is their style, and as I say this David Schneider of course comes down in transition and pulls up to knock down a 3. This game is looking like it will stay entertaining for the full 40 minutes, with both teams playing energetic basketball so far.
On a side note, Georgia State is in the early running for my favorite pep band of the weekend as they are incorporating a bass guitar in their ensemble, and the kid flat out knows how to play. I’ll check back at the half!
