More #1 seeds sent to the losers' bracket...
Top seeded Florida State and Texas were both defeated just minutes ago, the 'Noles taken down by Mississippi State while the 'Horns were upset by UC Irvine. That means both teams, each a national seed, must now win three straight games to advance to Super Regional play.
Long Beach State and Wichita State, meanwhile, who were both sent to the losers' bracket in their own regionals last night, got past Pepperdine and Oral Roberts, respectively, but like FSU and UT, they still must each win three games in a row to advance.
Elsewhere, San Diego - the other #1 seed who fell victim to a #4 on Friday - is in extra innings with Minnesota after the Torreros put up 5 runs in the 9th to stay alive.
Other #1 seeds Texas A&M (vs UL-Lafayette) and Arkansas (vs Okahoma State) both find themselves behind, while top-seeded Virginia (vs Oregon State) is in extra innings. Missouri, finally, will try to protect a one-run lead in the 9th.
