Punch those tickets!
It looks like Western Carolina is going to punch their ticket to the championship round in Chapel Hill. The Catamounts are up 9-5 over East Carolina going into the 9th inning. If they hold on, they'll play North Carolina tomorrow, and will have to beat the #3 national seed twice.
Charlotte is on its way to punching a ticket to a rematch with South Carolina tomorrow. The 49ers are beating up on N.C. State 8-0 in the top of the third.
In the other Carolina regional, Coastal Carolina and St. John's are playing in an elimination game. The Red Storm beat VCU 5-4 earlier today, and Coastal lost to Clemson 11-8 this afternoon. The #1 seed is currently in a little trouble, down 5-3 to SJU in the bottom of the 5th.
A couple of teams are looking to punch tickets to the supers, and in the process, take out national seeds. UC Irvine leads #4 Texas 6-5 in the 7th, though that one is in a delay. Mississippi St. leads #6 Florida St. 7-4 in the top of the 8th. Oklahoma St. leads #7 Arkansas 7-4 in the bottom of the sixth.
