Time for another UNC rally?
Just like last night, South Carolina has jumped out to a big lead. The Gamecocks were up 6-0 going into the bottom of the sixth last night, but couldn't hold the lead and lost 9-6. Tonight, USC has put together big innings in the first and fourth, and lead 8-3 after five. Justin Smoak hit his 22nd homer of the season in the fourth for USC. Smoak is 2 for 2 so far, with three runs scored and a couple of RBI.
In Houston, Rice is looking to close it out against Texas A&M and be the second team to punch their ticket to Omaha. The Owls are up 5-2 in the bottom of the eighth. Don't count the Aggies out just yet, though. Blake Stouffer's solo homer just made it a three-run margin, so there does appear to be some fight in A&M still. Joe Savery is 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBI for Rice.
In Fullerton, Cal St. Fullerton looks set to take a 1-0 lead against UCLA. The Titans are up 7-1 in the fifth, and are looking for more, with runners on first and third with one out. UCLA ace Tyson Brummett has been replaced after a tough outing (4.1 IP, 8 hits, 7 runs). Evan McArthur has driven in three runs for the Titans, and Chris Jones has driven in two.
