Game 10: Semifinals - UNC Wilmington vs. George Mason - Halftime Update

> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament

Despite this being a match up of two very good teams in a conference tournament semifinal game, that was a fairly uneventful first half. Mason leads it 31-25 at the break. Dre Smith and Louis Birdsong each have 8 points to lead the Patriots, while Will Thomas has been his usual tough self dropping in 5 and hauling down 6 rebounds.

It was another balanced scoring attack for the Seahawks, not that I would expect anything else. T.J. Carter has stayed out of foul trouble today and leads all scorers with 9; I’ve been impressed with his ability to elevate around the rim in traffic. Daniel Fountain and Kuljanin each netted 6, Fountain knocking down a pair of long threes.

Despite the lead, Patriot’s coach Jim Larannaga can’t be too happy right now. Despite out rebounding UNC Wilmington 18-12 and out shooting them 53.8% to 36%, they only have a 6 point lead going into the locker room. Mason’s defense has been doing a good job, but they need to worry if Wilmington steps up their shooting in the second half.

On another note, the George Mason dance team just finished up their routine and I have to say I was very impressed. I’m no expert when it comes to choreography, but I thought it was the best routine of the weekend so far.

Ok sports fans, five minutes to go until the second half and both squads still haven’t made their way out onto the floor yet. I’ll be back midway through the second half, until then, pull up a chair and get comfortable!
