Game 9: Semifinals - VCU vs. William & Mary - Halftime Update
> Live on-location in Richmond, VA at the CAA Tournament
Well the scores have changed, but the difference has not, VCU leads it 28-22 at the half. This has to be frustrating for the Rams, every time they come up with a big play William & Mary comes right back. David Schneider hit a particularly nice pull up three with about two minutes to go; unfortunately that was his only field goal of the half.
Jamal Shuler leads the Rams right now with seven points on 2-5 shooting. He was fouled driving to the basket with .7 seconds to go in the half and connected on both free throws to give VCU a little bit of a boost going into the locker room. Maynor hasn’t been outstanding but has been efficient; he’s posted 5 points and 3 assists while only turning the ball over once. In all his decision making has been fantastic. The Larry Sanders watch at the half stands at 4 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block in 10 minutes of playing time. While the numbers may not look like anything special, his presence has been. Just by trailing a Tribe fast break late in the half he cause a turnover because W&M was worried about a blocked shot.
The Tribe has gotten the most production out of their two most versatile players thus far. Laimis Kisielius is playing well for the second straight day with 8 points to lead all scorers right now. Sophomore swing man Danny Sumner (who is going to be a good player in this league next year) hit a couple of threes giving him 6 points.
The Tribe fans seem to have simmered down slightly as the number of calls going against their team decreased in the waning minutes of the half, but they are still just as vocal.
It’s going to be a great second half and we’re just five minutes away from the start of it. Both teams are still in their respective locker rooms but I anticipate them being out any second now. Check back in a little bit for some second half thoughts!
